English Language Classes (ESOL)
English Language provision within the VEC is available in both Adult Education Centres, in Ozanam Street and Railway Square, as well as in primary and secondary schools and Asylum Seeker Hostels in Waterford.
Classes are provided for all levels of English Language Learners from Complete Beginners, CEF A0, to Upper Intermediate, CEF C1 and all categories of students from Stamp 4 holders, Migrant Workers, Asylum Seekers, Refugees, Parents of school going non-national children, Unemployed non-nationals etc.
Progression is measured in terms of language level and FETAC level; learners of ESOL can progress from FETAC level 2 to 5 over a number of years. ‘Preparation for IELTS’ courses are also available.
The language learned in these classes is used for a variety of purposes which include, social and cultural integration, access to the Irish work force, promotion in the work place, access to further and higher education courses, helping with their children’s homework, enabling confidence in using the language and providing a sense of achievement.

Registration and Assessment for English Language Classes September 2013 will take place in the Adult Education Centre Ozanam on the following dates.
Tuesday September 3rd 10am to 1pm.
Wednesday September 4th 10am to 1pm and 6pm to 9pm.
Thursday September 5th 10am to 1pm.
Please note: registration and Assessment takes a minimum,
English Language (ESOL) Classes are offered at the following levels;
Classes are available in the morning, afternoon and evenings.
Fee: €135 x 12 classes. Unemployed Fee €65 x 12 classes
Registrations are open to:
Semester 1: Sept - Dec 2013
Semester 2: Jan - April 2014
Semester 3: April - July 2014
All students must complete a minimum of 3 semesters before the can sit FETAC examinations.
